I think the topic of nature vs nurture is so fascinating. I don’t think we’ll ever know for sure the full extent of either since in my opinion any research on the topic changes the outcome. Totally agree that the decision to narrate from a male perspective is interesting. I think part of the reason may have been to make the book more interesting in general. At the time of writing, women were mostly confined to a set number of occupations in the western world. Science and expositions weren’t it.

Loved the discussion this week on nature vs. nurture and the internal psyche of Frankenstein’s monster! A choice I thought was interesting of Shelley was that she made the decision to narrate the story through a man. Perhaps this was a choice to make the book more palatable for male readers??
